The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) knows all about the struggle to improve healthcare in America. Its seal of excellence is nationally recognized as the premier symbol of healthcare quality and service. This week, it awarded ODS its highly coveted three-year accreditation status of Excellent.
It’s a status awarded only to those health plans with well-established programs for both service and clinical quality that meet rigorous requirements for consumer protection, excellent service and healthcare quality improvement.
Dr. William Johnson, Vice President & Chief Medical Officer at ODS, understands exactly why the company stands in the front rank of medical insurers in Oregon. “This award is based on our commitment,” he says, “on our focus on quality in all areas of our business and all interactions with our customers. Two criteria were critical: clinical effectiveness measures and member satisfaction rates.”
ODS met or exceeded a rigorous set of more than 60 standards, and reported on its performance in more than 40 areas in order to achieve NCQA's seal of Excellence. “We strongly believe in the NCQA Accreditation process,” says Robert Gootee, President & CEO of ODS. “We know it recognizes that we serve our customers well.”
