The pharmacy discount card can save members up to 80 percent on generic medications and up to 20 percent on brand-name medications.

What if I have prescription drug coverage through a health plan, but some of the medications I take regularly are excluded from insurance coverage? Does the pharmacy discount card offer any benefit to me?

Yes. Drugs such as Viagra, Meridia and Zyban are typically considered "lifestyle medications" and are excluded from coverage under health plans. When a medication is excluded, you are typically charged the full retail price for those medications. This rate is usually much higher than the discounted price available to large purchasers. With the pharmacy discount card, you can obtain these medications at a discounted price, which can substantially decrease your out-of-pocket expense.

Can I use this discount card in addition to my insurance prescription card to reduce my costs even further?

No. This pharmacy discount card cannot be used to reduce costs on prescriptions that are already covered under a health plan. However, if you are taking prescriptions that are excluded from coverage under your health plan, this card may be used to save money on those excluded items.

How does the Pharmacy Discount Card work?

After enrolling in the program, a personalized pharmacy discount identification card will be mailed to your home. Simply present the ID card to a network pharmacy when you purchase medications. The pharmacy will handle the rest. The discount is applied to the medication, and you will pay the discounted price for the medication at the point of sale.

Are there any claim forms?

No. The pharmacy discount card is strictly a point-of-sale discount. You will not need to submit any claims to ODS, the administrator of OPDP and WPDP.
